Enduro Touring's Motorcycle Tours in Vietnam

Vietnam has recently become a very popular travel destination and has lots to offer for the more adventurous motorbike rider. If you are looking for an exotic destination to ride and explore, join one of Enduro Touring's guided motorcycle tours in either Vietnam, Laos or China. You won't be disappointed.

The Country and the people
Vietnam has been described as "Thailand 30 years ago". The people are very friendly and hospitable. The country with its rice paddies and wandering stock is a treat for the photographer. Since we mainly travel in the mountain region in northern Vietnam you get the chance to meet the 50 some ethnic hill tribes who display an unchanged culture from many centuries ago.

Practical Details
Driver’s license
To be able to drive in Vietnam you need your international driver’s license.

Traffic culture
Vietnam has officially right hand traffic! However most people use the whole road and as long as everyone fit they just move on. Right of way is normally granted for the largest vehicle. Intersections in the larger cities are at times manned or controlled with lights. In the smaller places some imagination and improvising of rules are required. The majority of traffic is either mopeds or bicycles and some busses. Regular cars are still a novelty outside the larger cities.

Insurance
The motorbikes are insured with third party. In addition to this you will need a comprehensive Travel insurance. Please check that this also covers activities such as motorcycle riding. If not there is a local insurance available at a cost of US$ 40,-/Person for 15 days.

Language
English and French are the most commonly spoken languages besides the local languages.

Spending money
As a guideline for spending money, US$100-200 would be sufficient for the 16 day tour.

The bikes
We are using the local 125cc or 250cc Yamaha and Honda with Panniers and carrier on the back.

There is no support vehicle on these tours so you need to pack fairly light but can leave the suitcases in Hanoi since we return there after the tour. The panniers for the bikes are about 2x 45 L. The hotels have a very good and fast laundry service so you can wash en route.

Travel preparation
Visa must be obtained before leaving your home country, details on this can be obtained from your local Vietnamese embassy or check with us. Please make sure to check with your local doctor for necessary shots you might need to re fresh or take.

Things you should bring with you:
Even though we can supply riding gear for the trip we recommend you bring your own riding gear as safety and fit is important.
Helmet
- Motor cross or Full-face is recommended (flies, stones and dust)
Riding Jacket - For safety and comfort preferably with vents as it is warm
Gloves - Thin summer gloves
